Day 13: Piraeus Port - How to go from Athens to Mykonos

Today it's a good early morning since we're going to go from Athens to Mykonos by ferry, thus starting the second stage of this trip to Greece in 32 days, leaving the mainland, which has given us so many gifts in the form of visits to some of the essential places to see in Greece, such as the incredible Athens, with its impressive Acropolis, Mycenae, the Theater of Epidaurus, Olympia, the Oracle of Delphi or the impressive Monasteries of Meteora, which have already made this Greece alone for free in one of the most impressive trips we have made so far.

We leave Hotel Anemoni, our accommodation in Piraeus tonight, where we arrived yesterday after enjoying an unforgettable sunset in Cabo Sounion, when it is 5:15 in the morning to go directly to the port of Piraeus which is where our Piraeus ferry to Mykonos at 7 in the morning, which will take us to one of the best Greek Islands.


Last night we left the car in the private parking of the hotel and today the receptionist perfectly indicates the way to reach the Port of Piraeus, which is not more than 5 minutes by car and where we go directly to the door 9, which is from where do our Athens to Mykonos ferry from the SeaJets company, a fast ferry where we can go from Athens to Mykonos in 2 hours.

- As we mentioned before, the ferry is one of the most advisable options to go from Athens to Mykonos. If you opt for this transport, we recommend you book tickets in advance, especially if you take a rental car, as the seats usually run out quickly in the season from June to September.
- If you book online, the most recommended option, as we did, you will receive the reservation codes by email, but these are not valid to access the ferry, so you must go 2 hours in advance to the port to pick up Physical tickets
In case you do not want to do this, you can go to any office of the company to pick them up or, failing that, something also interesting is to collect all ferry tickets on the Greek Islands on the first day.
- Although prices vary depending on the schedules, the time and other factors, at an orientation level, a ferry ticket from Athens to Mykonos, has a cost of about 60 euros by fast ferry and about 30 euros by normal ferry. The price of a normal tourism car, although it varies depending on the measures of the car, is approximately 80 euros.

Something that pleasantly surprises us is that as soon as we reach Chora, the capital of Mykonos and we could say, the best known place on the island, is that right next to what will be our accommodation there is a completely free parking, which although it is dirt And it is not very suitable, it is perfect to leave the rental car the days we do not need it.
