When we started preparing this year's getaways, we once again considered one of the destinations to which we try to return every year, Italy. Immediately after deciding that this year we would also return, we could not do anything but rethink that destination that has been around in our heads for years and to which, for one reason or another, despite being one of those places that we have qualified Among the 10 sites to see before we die, we have been letting it pass. Let's go to Naples and Pompeii!!!
It all started when we found a flight to Rome between the offers that we published in Best Flight and we considered the possibility of flying to Rome and from there take a train to Naples that takes between 1: 15h to 2: 30h depending on the train you take.
Arriving at night in Rome, the initial idea was to spend the night there, near the Termini station and in the morning, early to leave for Naples, to take advantage there all day.
But as you always have to think about things a couple of times, in the end, to take advantage of the few days we have we have decided to book a rental car in Rome and thus leave that same night from Rome to Naples, stay at the UNA Hotel, very central and next to the train station and be already Friday in the city.

The first day, Friday, we will take advantage of it to enjoy Naples by visiting some of its most emblematic places such as the Piazza del Plebiscito, where we can find the Royal Palace, the Basilica of San Francisco de Paula or the Salerno Palace.
Nor will we miss the Umberto I Gallery, they say it is very similar to the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II in Milan, which we met a few years ago.
One of the places that we have special interest in knowing is the Capella Sansevero, where we can find the Cristo Velato de Sanmartino.

In the afternoon we will enter the Spaccanapoli, where we will find the Duomo and the Basilica of San Domenico, although what we will really be looking for will be that "essence" of Naples that we are looking forward to meet and live during the few days we are.
As the afternoon progresses, the idea is to go to the Castel dell'Ovo, from where we have read there are stunning views of Naples, the bay and Vesuvius.
On Saturday, how could it be otherwise, we will take the opportunity to go to another of the places that we have always had in mind and that we have an incredible desire to know: Pompeii. This visit the we will expand with a first stop in Herculaneum, another of the cities that were buried by Vesuvius in 79 AD, causing the death of almost the entire population, although today it has allowed us to know its streets and buildings as if there were no Time passed
On Sunday this trip to Naples and Pompeii will have come to an end in 4 days, but before we leave we will enjoy a morning strolling through the city, one of the things we like to do, hoping to find the typical prints we have of this city.
And how could it be otherwise being in Italy and especially in Naples, we will enjoy one of the gastronomies of which we are true addicts, the Italian gastronomy.

After lunch we will return to the Italian roads, on the way to Rome, where the flight that will take us back home will be waiting for us, after enjoying a few unique days in our beloved Italy.
