10 REASONS TO GO TO TIOMAN ISLAND

The truth is that it is not difficult to find wonderful things on an island lost on the east coast of Malaysia, but if you are one of those who prefer to see than believe, here I give you my illustrated reasons to go to Tioman Island.

A few days where the pure and hard routine does not exist: forget about alarm clock, office, appointments and clock. My routine on the island was to sleep, wake up, walk on the beach, bath, food, nap, internet, bath, walk, bath, sunset, dinner, internet, sleep. A very hard life, but someone had to do it!

BATHROOMS

I am not a great lover of tanning (hence my colorful cadaverous belly and legs) and I don't understand those people who, as soon as they see two sun rays, become a lizard and they lie under our brightest star for hours and hours (and hours, and hours ...). Instead I am a great lover of baths, so as soon as I floor a beach: zas! The water! (Hence my colorful strawberry from Huelva on face and shoulders). And how to resist with clear waters like these from Tioman island?

NOODLES AND RICE

I love Malaysian food. But the good thing about the islands is that apart from finding the typical country there is seafood everywhere and cheaper yuhuu! So my 5 days on the island were full of shrimp, squid, mussels, prawns ... always with noodles and rice, eh? Do not believe that I had a feast, but it was all so rich that I could not stop eating. W mee (noodles) and nasi (rice) goereng (fried)

SUNSET

Here I saw one of the most beautiful sunsets ever and that is how much it can be topical, the sunsets facing the sea have that je ne sais quoi (one that is very polyglot mon deu!)

LONELINESS

Obviously I would have preferred to share this trip with Rober, but I loved spending those days in almost complete solitude without hordes of guiris everywhere and having my deserted beach for myself and all the time in the world to be able to write and read.

NATURE

Tioman is pure nature: it is made up of several villages, the “mine” was called Genting Village and, apart from the few houses it has, the pier and the basketball court, there is only one thing: nature! Beach and sea on one side, forests with trails, waterfalls and wild animals on the other. Here I saw a lizard swim through a river, a green phosphorite snake in the hostel's garden, thousands of little goldfish ... I felt like Mogli, yes, I was dressed huh? That here the topless is prohibited!

FROZEN

That piece of ice cream (ice-kakang) was the best thing that happened to me on this trip: what a rich thing please! Dyes and unidentified substances aside, this ice cream-slush stole my heart, it hurts to have discovered it last night (damn racanaaaaaaaa). Apart from ice and fruit juices I had bits of jelly, corn and sweet beans, I know it doesn't sound very good but I swear it was dead!

HOTEL

Not only did my cabin make me very happy, but above all the hotel managers: Atan and Mr Goh. They behaved very well with me, they were always super friendly and even invited me to dinner on more than one occasion!

WALKS

I don't like trekkings (in New Zealand I don't know how I will survive) but I love walking through cities (it's the best way to get to know them) and since in Tioman there was no city in itself,I spent many hours walking along the beach, the pier, the beach and the beach!

ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE

Good, that did not happen in Tioman, but if there had been no trip to Tioman it would not have happened (Oh, it looks like a tongue-and-groove! The arrival in Mersing (the city where you take the ferry to go to Tioman) was legendary: arriving at an unknown station at 12 at night is not a good plan and less when you discover that there are no taxis that take you to the hotel ... But if you meet people like Haliza The plan changes: he takes you in the car with his mother and sister to the hotel, helps you to check in, invites you to have a drink, introduces you to his friends and stays with you for breakfast the next day. The magic of traveling!

Y on the way back In Mersing, another surprise was waiting for me: a new friend. Nothing less thanthe fruit seller of the season! We have talked about travel, about his life, about how he likes his job because he meets new people every day ... Very nice and even gave me many little bags of fruit to eat on the trip to Melaka!

The Malaysian people are super hospitableI love this country.

These are my reasons for going to Tioman ... do you dare to find yours?
