GILI ISLANDS: TRAWANGAN, MENO, AIR WHAT TO CHOOSE?

One of the most famous excursions from Bali is that of the Gili Islands. And here doubts arise: Which of the Gili Islands is the best? Which one is prettier? Which Gili Island to choose? ¿Trawangan? ¿Meno? Air? Mmm, difficult decision ... the best thing would be to be able to divide the trip between the 3, and thus be able to see the charms of each of them, but if for one reason or another you only have a few days and you have to choose one of the 3 islands considered the next:

It is the largest (equally small), the most developed, with more accommodation, bars and activities. Apparently it is, of the 3, the best snorkeling offers and the lowest cost. It has more nightlife but, at least when we visited it - in October - we didn't find it chaotic and noisy (especially when leaving the main street where the ferries arrive). It has very quiet areas and one of the best sunsets in Indonesia. Come on, that Gili Trawangan was our choice and here we spent some very cool days.

The middle island, is the most 'virgin' of the 3. It only has a handful of resort and more carillos accommodations and a few restaurants. It is one of the favorite destinations for those traveling on honeymoon. Nice and quiet. So if you already know: if you are looking for a romantic getaway, in an atmosphere of calm and relaxation ... Gili Meno is your place!

It is the closest island to Lombok, and could be defined as an intermediate route between the two previous islands: it does not have as much gear as Trawangan but it is not as calm as Meno. It seemed to be the best option for us but we read that Gili Air's stands are in a worse state than Trawangan's… and of course, we wanted to see turtles and goldfish.

A very good idea to know the best of the Gili Islands is to sign up for one of the many boat tours that take you snorkeling and see the main attractions of Gili Trawangan, Gili Meno and Gili Air ... they are not expensive: it calculates about 100,000 Rp per person. If you are looking for a more “local” and cheap experience, you can get on one of the public ferries that take you from one island to another in a few minutes (there are several schedules a day, better check them when you arrive).
